A wealth of natural resources,
varied topography and rich history describe Delta County, located on
the Western Slope of the Rocky Mountains in west-central Colorado.

Delta County offers a mild climate with warm, dry
summers and moderate winters. The climate and setting of the Delta
area are ideal for year-round outdoor activities. State and national
parks surround this area and offer varied recreational choices,
including skiing, gold-medal fishing, hiking and hunting within
an hour’s drive.
The topography of the County consists of river valleys, canyons, |

| mesas and mountains. Elevations range
from 4,750 feet in the river valleys to more than 11,000 feet in
the West Elk Mountains. This wide range
of elevation allows for secluded valleys within the County. These
sheltered, quiet valleys provide a perfect environment for growing
unique fruits and vegetables that grow in few places in the world.
Grand Mesa to the north at 10,000 feet elevation is the largest
flat-top mountain in the world and is dotted with lakes. Dominguez
and Escalante Canyons are in the western part of the County. |
