San Miguel County
San Miguel County is a diverse county of great beauty that consists of 1,287 square miles. The east end of the county is driven by the upscale resort economy of the Telluride area while the west end of the county is filed with wide open spaces and an old time western ranching lifestyle.

At the east of County, surrounded by the majestic peaks of the San Juan Mountains, Telluride and Mountain Village. What began as a turn-of-the-century mining community has evolved into a world-renowned resort.

Two towns in one, Telluride and Mountain Village offer the best of Colorado's past and progressive present. A National Historic Landmark District with
San Miguel County
Victorian-era architecture, Telluride rests at the base of the Telluride Ski Mountain and is surrounded by 13,000-foot (almost 4,000-meter) peaks. Telluride is connected to Mountain Village by a free gondola. Located mid-mountain at 9,500 feet above sea level, Mountain Village overlooks some of Colorado's most magnificent peaks.

An eclectic blend of American Southwest and European style, Mountain Village is the ultimate mountain retreat for residents and visitors alike who want convenience, luxury and incredible scenery. Located mid-mountain on the south side of the ski area, the Town of Mountain Village overlooks some of the highest and most magnificent peaks in the San Juan Mountain Range. Founded in 1987, the design combines European-alpine architecture with the rustic traditions of the Rockies.

Nestled atop Wright's Mesa in the west end of the County, the Town of Norwood has spectacular vistas of high alpine and wild desert country. Far horizons are ringed by the La Sal Mountains in the west, the Uncompahgre Plateau to the north, the San Juan and San Miguel Mountains in the east and, to the south... Norwood's own jewel... the Lone Cone. Rugged desert canyons and ranch lands etch the landscape between.
