A Program that Builds Friendships and Supports Independence

The Senior Companion program focuses on providing assistance and friendship to older adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. Through this program, Region 10 Seniors volunteers keep seniors independent longer and provide respite to family caregivers. Region 10 Seniors volunteers themselves report better health and longevity having served their community.

Volunteer Companions are active adults, 55 and over, who volunteer to spend time with Host Companions, who are 60+ and may be homebound, frail, socially isolated, or just needing a bit of friendly support. Volunteer and Host Companions meet weekly on a scheduled basis. Their efforts are aimed at helping each other live as fully and independently as possible. Senior Companions also provide respite service for caregivers.
